For someone from North America, the road sign below could not be more foreign. I’m used to signs that say “Caution: Bear in Area” or “Moose for the next 25kms”. Instead, Australian drivers need to be concerned with echidnas, emus and kangaroos. After going on a few road trips, I realize that kangaroos are definitely something drivers need to be concerned with. On a short 3 hour round trip drive, from Perth to Cervantes (and Pinnacles) and back, our little hatchback nearly nearly two kangaroos. This sign is great for awestruck tourists, like myself, but it’s important to pay attention to the warnings. Or you might end up with a dead kangaroo and a banged-up car on your hands.
