We were at this small resort on the shores of Lake Izabal, meeting with the women (and their families) of Lote 8. Located near the town of El Estor in Eastern Guatemala, Lote 8 has been host to numerous atrocities. The village has been burned down, in addition to that 11 women from the community were gang raped by the private security forces of the local nickel mine. We met with them for an update on their situation
