Well here it is, the first photo from my time in Burma/Myanmar. This country was one of my favourites in Southeast Asia. It has a sense of still being undiscovered, and the people are some of the most generous and pleasant people I’ve ever met.
This photo is from one of the largest monasteries in Burma, in the city of Mandalay. I ended up here after our little group met a monk while wandering the streets. He was incredibly nice, and provided us with so much of the local history of Mandalay as we wandered the back streets of the city. Becoming a monk in Burma is a right of passage for most men, so it has some of the most monks in Asia. These are the sandals of the boys and men studying to be monks at the large monastery we visited. Enjoy!
