One of the things that I really wanted to accomplish while I was in South East Asia was elephant riding. And I didn’t actually do it!. I was in Laos and said I would do it in Thailand. In Thailand, I was running out of money and it seemed a bit too much to spend on something that wasn’t a necessity. The reason I got so close to this one is that they are a very popular tourist attraction in Ayutthaya, and this one wasn’t working at the time, so the non-riding tourists (like me) were able to get close to the animal, pet it, and have photos taken.

  1. Those eyelashes!!! They look like such peaceful souls! :D

    • They were lovely but I was also kind of scared of them! I would get close, then it would lift its trunk and I’d back away again. Probably for the best that I didn’t end up riding it!

  2. Elephants are so big yet so sweet, riding them is actually very dangerous to their spine, which is way less strong that we might think even if we see them so majestic..
